Current Planetary Cycles: What are the Financial Implications?

Wall St.

(Summer 1999) You may want to begin making your financial decisions with the ideas that: 1) inflation is right around the corner; 2) the stock market is on a roller coaster ride this year; and financial challenges for the economy are up and coming.

As cited in Grace Morris's manuscript, "How to Choose Stocks that will out perform the Market in 1996-1997" (1995 reference), she concluded from her research on inflationary cycles that when Neptune was in a fire or air sign -- we could expect an inflationary cycle and when Neptune was in a earth sign, we could expect to see a deflationary cycle.

In recent history, our country experienced a high inflationary time between 1970-1984. It was during this time that Neptune was in the fire sign of Sagittarius. Then, from 1984 through most of 1998, Neptune was in an earth sign (Capricorn). It was during this time that we witnessed a deflationary cycle. Well, in December of 1998, Neptune went into the air sign of Aquarius. This suggests that we are in the beginning phases of an inflationary cycle that will last until February 2012.

Usually, a researching astrologer will look for at least three areas of planetary aspects or cycles before making a generalization on just one indicator -- such as Neptune in the air sign of Aquarius.

History speaks again. Another indicator of inflation is Neptune in aspect to Jupiter. Within the time frame that Neptune was in the fire sign -- Sagittarius (1970-1984), peak times for the inflationary cycle coincided with Jupiter in aspect to Neptune: February, May and September of 1971; April, October and December of 1974; June 1977; September of 1978; January and May of 1979; and finally, January of 1984.

Jupiter will be in harsh aspect with Neptune from June 30, 1999 to April 9, 2000 at three different times. Those dates are July 21, 1999, October 11, 1999, and March 16, 2000. Now we have a mixture of 1-Neptune in an air sign, and 2- in aspect to Jupiter. On or within a week of these dates, we will probably see the beginning of an inflationary cycle.

In my Spring article, "What Makes This August So Unusual," I wrote about the last eclipse in this century, August 11, 1999. I gave a map showing Europe and the Middle East as the focus of the eclipse, e.g., Kosovo. I concentrated mostly on war and political problems. This article is not about war and political problems, but it will be a piece to the economic puzzle later this year. (To an astrologer, this eclipse is a frightening eclipse to study. The astrological community has been buzzing trying to interpret its potential effects.)

I recently attended another stock market conference in NYC. The buzz amongst the financial astrologers is that close to the eclipses this Summer -- July 28 and August 11 -- we are going to see a serious drop in the stock market. Now thru September will be "bearish." October through mid-December "bullish," then expect a correction to close out the year. On the bright side, expect stocks to be on sale in August and September. (Note inserted 8.20.00. The "drop" did occur, but it was not until early 2000 -- with a serious drop April 14, 2000. Some of us astrologers have question how much of a "free market" this is?)

Another financial indicator for the year is Saturn in Taurus. This past February, Saturn entered Taurus where it will remain until April 2001. Saturn takes approximately 28-30 years before it returns to the same sign again. The last time Saturn was in Taurus was from May 1969 through January 1972. For those of us who can remember that far back, remember that it was a time of high inflation and high unemployment. Nixon was president and the country watched in dismay as Watergate unfolded. It was a time of protest by the people for peace instead war and minorities wanted equal rights and the people were beginning to wake up to pollution. Saturn in Taurus is about working for values -- whether financial or spiritual.

With Saturn being the ruler of trends and timing, we can expect to hear more about Nixon and Watergate over the next two years, as well as the other themes mentioned. (9.12.00. -- WTO Riots.)

The Battle in Seattle

For example, we will begin to see similar fashion statements that were present 28-30 years ago, e.g., hair styles; clothing like the bikini cut, and bell bottoms. Has anybody seen the movie Austin Powers? This movie is about a guy who was cryogenically frozen 30 years ago and comes back to life in the 90's. Interesting, no?

Anyway, real estate market is an excellent investment now. Astrologically, the real estate market runs a 20 year cycle and it is reaching a peak from now until April, 2000. The last peak was in the early 1980's which many of us can recall as "a good investment." The return on a real estate investment purchased 20 or 40 years ago will reap the highest return now through April, 2000. Likewise, real estate bought at this time will see a peak return in 2019-20.

Saturn tends to put a damper on the areas of life associated with the sign it is in (Taurus) and the sign opposite it (Scorpio). Those of you who are born in early Taurus or Scorpio might already be able to relate on a personal level to the attention needed towards personal worth, values and financial security. These may be current themes in your life. Nevertheless, Saturn is in Taurus for everyone and we will all feel its lessons somewhere in our lives.

All this astrological jargon comes down to common sense. How about that Y2K scare? Did you know that the Federal Reserve has already pumped several billions of dollars into the economy? They have calculated that Americans are going to want to make sure that they have their money available for the new millennium and that we will probably pull money from the economy- just in case. Not only is the Y2K a scare, but the buzz on television lately has been questioning the possibility of an inflationary hike. Greenspan will meet in two weeks to decide if inflation is necessary. The astrological indications basically say, "Count on it."
